Rooms, as its called, is just that...basic lodging. Ironically though, it sets right next to the Jamaican Grand Hotel...one of the better Hotels in Ocho Rios ( Ochi ).
Its situated right in the heart of Ochi, so walking to anywhere you want to go is do-able. The pricing of things is hit & miss, as your EASILLY spotted & targeted as a "rich tourist", so the shops that don't have prices marked on items will try to get over and charge more....use JA dollars when possible, its too hard to do quick conversions, so you'll get better prices on things. The stores that sell food, the pricing is there, so no worries...however, food cost alot in Jamaica, so expect double on everything ( a can of pringles in the states, $1.00, in JA $2.00 ). There are restaurants, but no deals there either...you'll pay 35-50 bucks at Evita's ( a popular place ) for a meal. There is Burger King a few blcks from ROOMS, and theres always the local food too...a tad cheaper.
Really the only cheap thing about JA is getting there. You won't break the bank, but its a tourist town like anywhere else in the world.
