I have been to countries were they do not accept it, countries where they take it but prefer not to, and countries where they are thrilled to see an American dollar. I want to know how much money I should convert.

US money in Jamaica is welcomed all over. Look at it this way, when I send money down to my husband's family this is what it does

100US= 6,000JA

100JA= 2.50US

You take how ever american money you have and times it by 64 which is the current exchange rate according to Western Union. So lets imagine you take 1,000 american dollars to Jamaica, you will have this formula:

1,000 x 64= 64,000 JA

But please be careful, the people who live down there will take american people for granted because some of them think that america's roads are paved with gold. If that was the case I would be chiseling everyday!!!! But anyways, do not get taken for. Keep your money in traveler's checks or one of those prepaid debit cards such as VISA or MasterCard. I know I have lived there for 2 years before. I was used alot until I wised up. Have fun, it is a beautiful country!!!!

nicely, the historic customary is $a million USD=$.ninety 5 CAD, so i'm no longer extremely worried that the ratio of the two currencies is back to approximately it is a hundred twelve months customary. even regardless of the indisputable fact that, Canada is a suitable u . s . that i certainly rejoice with traveling, so it will make my holidays up there lots extra high priced. relatively, the two currencies are close sufficient to being at par that it should not be a considerable component in Canadian investment contained in the U. S..

It is accepted everywhere mostly if it is near a tourist city (Port Antonio, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Kingston, Negril) but many of the times your change is in jamaican currency.
