Have you taken a flight from the US to Jamaica before?

Here's the deal...I've been shopping around for two/adult/airline, roundtrip tickets to Kingston, Jamaica... I know absolutely nothing about taking a flight! This will be a first for me. I'm traveling from FL around February/March 2010.

I must be typing the wrong numbers/info in when I search for flights because the average price that I've been getting for both of our tickets is about $2500usd. WHAT is that all about???

Is air fare actually that expensive for where I'm traveling to/from????

I HAVE to be entering something wrong because I've searched for all-inclusive/hotel and airline packages...and for the same amount of days and travel itinerary...it's like $1500 bucks for airfare and lodging.

HHEEELLP! I need a travel agent, lol.

But if you've traveled from the US to Jamaica...what state did you travel from and how much was your flight?

Yes. I once flew from Charlotte, NC, to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and I think it was under $300 round-trip. I stayed in Ocho Rios, which was about a two-hour bus trip from the MBJ airport, but I think the savings were worth it. I stayed at a little place on the beach, Mon-Thurs, and the whole trip was well under $1000, including an entire day of tours I booked as well as transportation to and from the airport.. Also included a fabulous meal at a beautiful restaurant. I did not use a travel agent, but booked everything entirely on my own. This was three summers ago, I believe.

I travel from Ft Lauderdale FL to Kingston regularly and the price is normally around $200-300 flying on Air Jamaica, ~$69 each way and ~$90 travel taxes. Just don't fly Spirit they are a total rip off (even tho sadly they have bought Air J recently)

Yes, a travel agent would be of great help. And it sounds like that's the best option for you. You'd also get package deal offers from an agent. You will want to stay in an all-inclusive resort because Jamaica isn't the safest or most-relaxing place to be "roaming around". From Florida I would think you could get flights or packages on Air Jamaica for a pretty good price.

Yah you must be doing something wrong because I can fly ALL THE WAY from western Canada to Jamaica for $500 CAD.

Try searching to Montego Bay instead of Kingston. MUCH better deals.

And then I'd suggest a travel agent if you're not experienced.

That price sounds just about right actually. All-inclusives are about $250 per night MINIMUM. So 4 nights would cost about $1000.

Really GOOD all-inclusives start at $300-400 per night per person, especially if the week you are booking for happens to by a public holiday in Jamaica or in the USA.

I suggest contacting a travel agent. Your booking is still early. at least use a travel agent to get a comparitive figure.

have you tried Air Jamaica Vacations? I am going to Jamaica in 3 weeks all inclusive hotel/air package, and the package total for 3 people was $2100 I am traveling from Washington DC. But florida should be no problem...

Try www.airjamaicavacations.com

You should be able to find fares to Kingston for about $370 per person. Is there any particular reason you are flying into Kingston? Montego Bay is the airport that most tourists fly into. It has many more flight options and is the best airport location for many tourist areas.

Try entering KIN for the airport..

Next, as is also mentioned MTB, Montigo Bay is on the north shore if you are going to a resort/vacation and much closer to the better beaches instead of business in Kingston.

Lots of more good info on travel to the island on here when your ready to ask.
